Forthcoming production - 21-24 October 2020 We Happy Few by Imogen Stubbs
Pump House Theatre - Watford
Belmont Theatre plans to perform 'We Happy Few', by Imogen Stubbs, to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of VE Day, in October 2020. We planned to perform it in May 2020 but unfortunately have had to postpone it due to government advice following the Coronavirus pandemic.
The play was inspired by the true story of a group of actresses, who formed a travelling theatre company during the second World War to bring culture and entertainment to parts of the country that were war-torn and deprived of such events. The story follows the formation of the company and their life ‘on the road’. It includes excerpts from a number of plays, including Shakespeare and Shaw, as well as music, with a few songs and dance numbers.
Our directors expects this to a be good fun show, which is also a fitting tribute to the VE Day celebrations.
Performance dates are scheduled for 21-24 October 2020 (four evenings and one Saturday matinee performance).
We anticipate that most of the cast members who were scheduled to appear in May will be available in October. Any further auditions required will be publicised in due course.
Online ticket sales for October are available NOW via Ticketsource .The main box office is open on 07917 324179 for queries relating to the postponement of the May production only. It opens on 1st July 2020 for new telephone bookings for We Happy Few.
