Chris Bush’s adaptation of A Doll’s House is set in the late 19th century as Ibsen intended but it has a more modern feel to the story and language.
Characters:
Nora: (Ideal age 30’s) Central character is the ‘doll’ for her husband to admire and show off but also give direction to. Nora is rather a suppressed rebel and behaves differently when her husband is present.
Torvald: (Age 40s) Bank Manager. Likes to be in control. High minded
Dr Rank (40/50s) Doctor, Has a terminal illness - great friend to both Nora and Torvald (secretly in love with Nora)
Christine; (40s/50s) Old friend of Nora’s recently widowed and looking for work
Krogstad: Lawyer, money-lender and bank employee - former acquaintance of Torvald. His position at bank is tenuous due to past incident.
Anna: (50s) Children’s nanny
