RELATIVE VALUES

Picture
Rehearsals are certainly moving on apace as opening night draws ever nearer. Under the astute eye of our director, Laurence, lines, moves and characterisations are developing nicely.  However we want to give that last boost to ticket sales which currently stand at just over 60%.
We need all members and patrons to make a real effort to spread the word. The cast are working very hard and deserve an audience of at least 90%. It’s a great play with some delightful comical moments
and will be a riot. Certainly no need to undersell this one.

THE 'GET IN DAY' IS SUNDAY 24TH MAY

Picture
The get-in day is Sunday 24th May and starting at 10.00 am we'll need plenty of help to put the set together, hang blacks and doors etc. Painting will begin at 2.00 pm. Please come along, remember many hands make light work.

Also on the 24th we are holding one of our “OPEN DAYS” to show people around the theatre and hopefully spark some interest in amateur theatre with a view to them seeing our shows and maybe joining us. If you have a Belmont sweatshirt or polo shirt please wear it.

PARDON ME PRIME MINISTER

Picture
The formal reading for our next show will be on Tuesday 9th June with the auditions on Thursday 11th June - Please spread the word..

Venue: our usual rehearsal room in Carpenders Park and we kick off at 7.45 pm on both evenings

The show is a brilliant fast moving traditional farce and will be directed by Michael Collins. We guarantee this play will be fun to rehearse and our audience will certainly love it every bit as much as the last time we produced it back in our Arts Centre days.

Contact Michael  [email protected] for further details or call him on 020 8864 3104 or 01707 336 017(work)

OUR RECENT SHAKESPEARE WORKSHOP

Last Sunday we had a really successful Shakespeare workshop, well attended and great fun.
A big 'thank you' to Linda Hampson from East Lane Theatre Club, who was the outside expert who led the event and really enthused everybody. Belmont has always been so reticent regarding embarking on a Shakespeare production and hopefully this event will prove a catalyst for future thoughts. Linda, along with the fellow directors, Carole, Mary-Anne and Jane are all to be applauded for the work they all put in. Great stuff.
Also Colin Hickman from Proscenium Theatre Club gave a great introduction to the language of Shakespeare which gave a good insight to the rhythms and flow of the language. Very interesting and a chance for us all to get into the informal swing of the afternoon.
Thanks to Team C and Mel in particular for being the driving force behind the event and Britt for her sterling work behind the tea bar.
We all now look forward to the following future workshops, 'Musicals and Music Hall' 15th November 2015 and then a workshop on 'Stage Lighting', date to be announced.

BELMONT AGM -
A VITALLY IMPORTANT MEETING FOR THE FUTURE OF THE SOCIETY.

Please make a note in your diary to attend the AGM on Thursday 18th June, again at our usual rehearsal venue at Carpenders Park community hall, commencing at 8.00 pm.
This is a vitally important date in the group's calendar and the ideal forum to come up with ideas and views on the way the group is being run and of course your opportunity to offer to pitch in and help. The group is picking itself up after a couple of shows that have not really grabbed the imagination of our audience and the committee is working really hard on your behalf BUT we need help if we are to continue to build ourselves back up and continue to be a force locally.
There are vacancies on the committee so now is the opportunity to put your money where your mouth is and come forward.
It is not too alarmist to say that the next year could be make or break for the group, so please attend on the 18th June 2015.

BARNET AND DISTRICT DRAMA FESTIVAL AWARDS NIGHT

Picture
Saturday 13th June at Badgers Croft, Totteridge Lane, N20 8AH
Doors will be open at 7.30 pm for an 8.00pm start. Admission is £5.00 on the door. Wine and soft drinks will be available to purchase at the bar. No pre-booking is necessary but it will be good to have a reasonable number of members and patrons to support Belmont and find out whether our entry 'Remembrance' has won anything.

SUMMER GARDEN PARTY 26TH JULY
