We are pleased to announce that our May production will be Jekyll and Hyde, (adapted by Neil Bartlett, by arrangement with Nick Hern books) directed by Carole Baynes

Production dates 24-27 May 2023

Synopsis:
Robert Louis Stevenson’s well know tale of male violence and privilege has been adapted here by Neil Bartlett. This version redresses the gender balance a little by giving a voice to the first victim and the Matron and Doctor caring for the victims and together they try to uncover the identity of the assailant. Investigations take them to the heart of the Male Establishment running the hospital
This version is an ensemble production with 9 individuals - 7 of these taking on a number of extra roles as required  in the telling of the tale of the downfall of the highly respected Dr Jekyll who experiments with drugs to release his evil alter ego he has named Mr Hyde, with tragic results.

Jekyll and Hyde

We had a lot of praise for this production, which uses an ensemble cast and with several key roles for women, including a new  character of a female doctor who solves the mystery.

Her are a few audience reviews:

What a fantastic evening.  Ben Morris, you are something else.

Saw Jekyll and Hyde on Thursday night.  An all-round excellent production.  A fanntastic, strong cast.  Well done Belmont

Wow!!  What a fantastic production!  Congratulations to everyone involved in Jekyll & Hyde at the Pump House theatre tonight, especially Ben Morris who was quite scary at times, but fantastic!

What an amazing show that was! Jekyll and Hyde was absolutely incredible, superb acting and storylline

As always with Belmont Theatre Company, an excellent production and an afternoon well spent at the Pump House Theatre in Watford.

And finally...

From Alex, who played Mr Enfield -

When I survey the Belmont cast
Who fought their way through Jekyll and Hyde
It fills my head with random words
And fills my heart with joy and pride!

It’s been such fun to join this troupe
Of biscuits, tea and blue lemonade
So cast, director, prompt and crew
I thank you for the memories we’ve made!
