Belmont Theatre presents R C Sherriff's iconic play ‘Journey's End' at the Pump House Theatre, Watford in from 24th to 27th October 2018 for a run of 5 performances. The play is set in the trenches during World War 1 and will be a special production commemmorating the 100-year anniversary of the end of the War. It highlights the sacrifices and experiences of men thrown together in battle and brings out the simmering raw tensions and traumatic relationships of the situation.
We believe that people will remember this production for a long time. RC Sherriff wrote 'Journey's End' based on his own experiences on the Western Front. We intend this to be a very emotional production with the ring of authenticity as a keynote feature. Thus, the costumes, set design and the lighting plus sound will be extra special to create the claustrophobic atmosphere of life in the trenches. We are fortunate to have secured the services of Linda Hampson, a highly-regarded local director, to create this atmosphere for you. Linda is always in regular demand by other groups and has directed plays by many acclaimed writers including Moliere, Ibsen, Terence Rattigan, Dario Fo and Arthur Miller. Her production of ‘A View from the Bridge' won first place in all eligible categories in the Barnet and District Drama Festival, including overall best production. Because of the events commemmorated by this production, Belmont Theatre will be collecting for The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal in the run-up to the show and also during show week.
