Belmont's latest productio 'Remembrance' was very much enjoyed by our audience. A thought provoking and touching drama.
It played at the Pump House Theatre on Wednesday 25th to Saturday 28th February 2015
Synopsis: 'Remembrance' is a tale of true love in adversity played out against the tense background of a troubled Northern Ireland at the end of the 20th Century. A delicate and beautiful relationship develops between a Protestant father and a Catholic mother who meet in the cemetery where their sons are buried, both victims of violence. Family members with their own agendas attempt to thwart their burgeoning relationship and we travel with the couple to see if their romance reaches a final reconciliation.
The playwright himself has said "I write about what I know," and his play is less about the specific political troubles in Belfast than it is "about relationships between people and how the external world affects them".
Belmont Theatre wins Top Award!
InJune 2015 a crowd of us went to the Barnet Festival Awards evening. We were awarded a trophy for The Most Ambitious Choice of Play for 'Remembrance'. It was with great pride that I collected the trophy. This was for two reasons, one it was a damn good play and secondly because as I had spent most of the rehearsal period in either plaster or an air boot, it was very satisfying to actually be able to go onto the stage to collect it!!!
Mary Woolf was nominated for 'Best Actress', Judi Campion for 'Best Actress in a Supporting Role' and the set for 'Best Design and Construction'.
Thanks again to everyone involved. Please see the photos and the very very wide smiles!!!
