We are very proud to let you all know that last night at the Festival we were awarded a cup for The Most Ambitious choice of Play for Remembrance.
Judi Campion was nominated for Best performance by an actress in a supporting role. Mary Woolf was nominated for Best actress. The set was nominated for Best Set Design. More to follow on this from Frankie Hogan our brilliant Director for this play. Belmont held it’s traditional after show party, kindly hosted by Joe and Dawn, giving us ample opportunity to reflect on the last show and look forward to the next production PARDON ME PRIME MINISTER. There was a veritable feast of food and booze as we relaxed. Thanks Joe and Dawn for making us all so welcome. Dawn had laid on a fire eater, Layla, as our unique entertainment for the evening. It was great, a first for Belmont. Thanks Layla. There was the traditional speech by the Chairman ,Michael,(thankfully quite brief) thanking everybody for the brilliant week of Relative Values, with delighted audiences who thoroughly enjoyed the show. We achieved 81% audiences and made a healthy profit. Belmont are definitely back on the up and aim for SELLOUT SIGNS for the next show. Michael presented Laurence with a thank you card, bottle of wallop and a gift voucher for Debenhams. Well done Laurence. RELATIVE VALUES: some post-run words from the directorNow that it’s over, everyone involved can look back with satisfaction and pride on a job well done after the problem casting some roles (one in particular) had made things very trying for the first few weeks of rehearsals – indeed, there were real doubts whether we’d get the show on at all – it went right to the wire. However, as always, great Belmont teamwork won the day. The show week was most enjoyable both for us and our audiences. Congratulations!
Thanks to Dawn and Joe for a splendid after show party at their house, which included (unless I was hallucinating!) an amazing belly-dancing fire eater. Also, many, many thanks to the RV cast and crew for the lovely cards, gift (bottle of port) and generous gift voucher that were presented to me there. Finally, I wish Michael a much smoother ride with Pardon Me, Prime Minister. I’m sure it will be a great success. Laurence |
